dale Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 Ordered a front disc brake set for my 1946 Plymouth yesterday from Scarebird and picked up rotors, calipers, and pads at NAPA today. Be intresting to see how much better they work than drums. If you didnt already know this setup will enable the use of the stock rims. 1 Quote
casper50 Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 used the same one on my 47 dodge Quote
Andydodge Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 O/k so the 4 wheel disc setup I have in my 1940 Dodge is not a US kit but Oz sourced/modified but you won't believe how nice disc brakes make driving an old car. I also had a 1941 Plymouth with the stock brakes........no comparison between them...........good luck with the swap.......andyd Quote
dale Posted October 12, 2016 Author Report Posted October 12, 2016 So Andydodge...What do you have for a rearend in the 1940 Dodge ? Does the rearend with disc brakes enable the use of stock rims ? Id like to change the rearend to one with discs but want to retain the stock rims... Quote
dale Posted October 18, 2016 Author Report Posted October 18, 2016 Got the brake stuff from Scarebird and the installation was very easy. Total cost for everything which was $355 from Scarebird and the rest from NAPA came to a total of $611 including taxes. New lugs nuts included. Bleeding the calipers was a snap. Im using the stock master cyl. and they work great. Ill try to load a picture. Dale 1 Quote
dale Posted October 18, 2016 Author Report Posted October 18, 2016 Site keeps saying Im using too many bits even on one picture... Quote
_shel_ny Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) Try making a copy of the pic. Save the larger one for your own use. Resize the copy to under 100kb with "paint". Then try posting. The new site set up will show that 100kb pic well, and you will save some of your site storage allotment by not using 2-3mb pics. Edited October 18, 2016 by _shel_ny Quote
