brake fluid pressure

My left caliper was not holding, so I thought, after replacing the inner gaskets, yet if I did a slow steady pump the caliper returned and I got nice square stops again. So with the truck on a hoist I CLEANED that caliper, hose and all. Then went for a drive and then back on the rack. The wet spot was on the brake line hose connection to the caliper. So I put a bit of shoulder into that connection and problem solved. Point is, I'm learning that the brake lines have a LOT of pressure and the system MUST be dry, dry.  It really proves the need for NEW BRAKE LINES on an old VEHICLE. All else under the truck checked out tight and right. A good steam job on the frame is next.
