BillMurphy Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 I haven't gotten to pull the trans yet, but I realize replacing the graphite seal and bellows requires special tools that I will never find. Is there a place I could send my fluid coupling to have the job done? I bought the car with the motor apart, so I'm not sure it leaks, but in the pile of parts I got with the car was a new bellows. I'm assuming the previous owner had it for a reason. I need to pull the motor anyway, which means pull the trans, so I'd like to not have to do that all over again. I tried to look this up before posting but was unsuccessful. Thanks, Bill Quote

BillMurphy Posted April 5, 2016 Author Report Posted April 5, 2016 Hi Don, I read it all (actually read most of it before I posted). Not sure what you are trying to tell me. Northwest Transmission? Convert to 3 speed? Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 I was only sharing stuff you may have not already read. Fluid drive units are pretty bullet proof. If your unit is leaking there should be traces indicating such leak. Competent rebuilders are few and far between and if you do find a good rebuilder be prepared to dig deep to pay for there services. Might be less expensive to find a non leaking used replacement. In the links I posted the proper tools and such needed for a rebuild are pictured. Your choice but I recommend a very close inspection of what you have to work with. Quote
mopar_earl Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 I'd run it and see. Not difficult to pull later if it leaks. Earl Quote
