Rodney it's going to be a nice one, how long will it take for you to get it burning gas down the road. I like you enthusiam, I am enjoying my project (48 Chrysler Coupe), but it's my first kick at the can and it's a learning experience every step of the way..........Fred

Rodney;

Very nice snag on the Stude! I understand the V8 urge. But! Find a Stude V-8 with a turbo. Do not go cokkie cutter Chevy as this car is way too cool for that. Trust me you will not have regrets.

On another note Jim Yergin and I are going to invade Chets private and personal space around 2:00 PM Saturday to inspect and evaluate his new (1928-29? Plymouth) purchase. You should pull one of your horses out of your barn and join us.

Hey Don, that's sounds great I wish I was free on saturday but I will be junk yard hopping then, I need to find some parts for some buick nail head friends they are in trouble, they need trans for 1965-66 it's special, my mopar guy needs a 83/4 rear for his duster has to be from a duster or demon! You guy's have fun and yake some pick's that chet has all the luck 1928-29 man that thing is fantastic and here I am afraid to drive my 29 A model. to slow for these hyways around here unless you have 10 of them with you.:)

I think the Studies used the Borg Warner R10 overdrive, so you might get a few bucks for that after the swap.

I think I will save the motor and trans for my 1941 studebaker that way I can send it off for a rebuild and have it for my stude when that motor gets tired.

Rodney, my buddy (pictured) and I were recruited to be "pit crew" help for this Stude a couple years ago at a dry lake called El Mirage. There was a big row of electric fans behind the rear window over the relocated radiator (not in use at the time) and the legend is that the previous owner drove the car from California to Bonneville, changed the tires, and ran some impressive speeds, then he put the street tires back on and cruised home! When the pic was taken, it was powered by a blown 560 pro stock motor. Deafening! And the owner/driver was approx 70 yrs old.

Rodney....an old friend from my high school days owns this Stude. Think it has Packard tail lights. Don't know what V8 is in it. He lives in another town about an hour's drive from here, and I see him occasionally. Don't know how much of the work he actually did on the car himself......but it looks sharp. He has had an auto upholstry shop for the past several years and does that stuff pretty well. Took this pic at a show a couple months ago.
