G'day, new to the site I'm from Australia I have a couple of projects on the go just started a 47' Plymouth sedan lead sled build, chopped 4" out of the b pillars and 5" out of  the c pillars  and am laying the boot and the screen in to do a one piece chop. I haven't been able to find too many 47' sedan chops on the net, still not decided wether to keep the flathead or drop in a 318.

I have also have a 36" Plymouth sedan that's been partially hot rodded.

Sso I'll be chasing a few bits and pieces in the future and also possibly some advice. post-8832-0-95367200-1459134410_thumb.jpgpost-8832-0-49205600-1459134594_thumb.jpg

G'day Coytey from Portland Vic.

A couple of nice cars with potential. Personally I'd go with the 318, as the steering column makes it difficult to get a decent exhaust manifold on a rhd side valve motor. Or a 265 hemi. It's longer than the sv, but it's different.

Anyway best of luck. There's a lot of good stuff and people on this website.

Cheers

Rick

Welcome to the forum Coytey you will find a lot of help here on just about anything for these old cars and trucks. I know a lot of people love the chopped look but for me I love these cars just the way they are. I have a 1948 Plymouth P15 sedan that I have been knocking around changing the engine to a 318 but just haven't bit the bullet quite yet as I to kind of like the old flat head in it and also my 48 coupe. Good luck with your build.

Thanks for the advice anyone else have thoughts on the side valve or small block idea I have been offered a couple of engine combos with side valve and electric overdrive boxes but also have a 318 and 727 out of my challenger. Car is the 47' sedan 4" out of the B pillars and 5" out of the rear pillars trunk laid forward on the lead sled theme. Want the car to be a trouble free cruiser capable of 1000mile runs I haven't played with the flatys as yet do they give much drama?

Coytey, welcome to the best mopar forum around, these guys know their stuff, as far as which engine to use you'd probably be better off with the 318 in the long run tho' if you were to go with a flathead then I'd chase up a T5 overdrive box, much easier to find here in Oz and no electrics to fiddle with apart from anything else.........I have a bored 313 Poly from a 1962 Royal in my 1940 Dodge, been there since 1973, cast iron auto, EB wagon diff, P76 Discs, Austin 1800 rack, P76 front seats, etc, etc........I was building a 230/T5'd 1941 Plymouth coupe but sold it, however have quite a few tips and info that may help...........I talk better than I type........send you phone number & I'll give you a buzz............regards, Andy Douglas
