Ward Duffield
Hello Group I want to send the spring-loaded top hold-downs for my 46 Plymouth out for rechroming. I assume it is required to disassemble the mechanism, sending only the chromed bits, not the internals. Does anyone have a scheme for extracing the springs, etc. from these assemblies? There is one hole in the outer barrel, but I cannot identify a pin, clip, etc. Thanks for any suggestions. suntennis
What does the bottom end of the long part look like?
Ward Duffield
Hello Thanks for responding. It is a cylindrical rod with an eye on the end, all one piece, no threads. A chromed brass rivet attaches the mouting brackets to the eye I have already driven out the rivets. Ward NY
suntennis
Based on the above photo, I think the cap on the opposite end is threaded on or maybe pressed on. You might also put the question on the Plymouth Owners Club site.
