mopar_earl Posted November 12, 2015 Report Posted November 12, 2015 Hello, I'm not a gasoline guy so I know little about carbs. I noticed my Stromberg on my 52 is missing the vent tube that's inside the top of the throat of the carb. Is it needed? Where can I source one? Thanks, Earl Quote
DonaldSmith Posted November 12, 2015 Report Posted November 12, 2015 Maybe it fell out when the carburetor was tipped upside down. (Sorry, I'll go back to my corner.) Quote

Whats important is if it's needed and if so, where do I get one. It never had one in it since I owned it. I noticed it was missing when when I saw it in the parts diagram and realized my carb didnt have it, just an empty hole. Earl Quote
mopar_earl Posted November 12, 2015 Author Report Posted November 12, 2015 Oh I see, the pic is upside down. Was upright when I uploaded it. Good enough to show what I'm talking about though. Lol Earl Quote
mopar_earl Posted November 13, 2015 Author Report Posted November 13, 2015 I discovered that Studebaker's used a similar carb model. I'm selling a 47 Baker truck so I will check it and steal that one if it has a Stromberg. Knowing my luck it will be one of the other two brands used. Lol Earl Quote
mopar_earl Posted November 24, 2015 Author Report Posted November 24, 2015 Got around to checking that Baker, unfortunately it has the other carb option so no Stromberg to steal the vent pipe from. Earl Quote
Dartgame Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 You could probably make one using some brass tubing or some steel tubing, like 5/16 or 1/4 depending on whats needed. Try using a drill bit to determine the size. Use the non cutting end of the bit and slip it into the hole. I'd bet its 5/16 or 1/4 ". 1 Quote

Might be my best option unless I come across a cheap carb or parts carb. Not sure how long the pipe needs to be though. Lenght probably isn't critical. Earl Quote
