Yes Don, I did open the hoods of each and every one of them on multiple occasions for many reasons that I successfully rendered an issue to the subjugation of fixed.

However, I have not once dealt with a vehicle built during the Sumerian age  ;) Therefore not once even heard of a generator on a vehicle until now. And thank you Merle for the pic, I do not have a generator.

For all I knew, a 'generator' could have looked like an alternator, which clearly it does not.

No excuse needed.....you came to the site for help, and I hope that you find some of the posts helpful...take the others with a grain of salt.....or the whole shaker in some cases.. LOL

Glad you figured out your set up, and now it's pretty much a gurantee that your 12 volt negative ground, but be very sure the condition of your wiring before you do too much...that cloth coated stuff looks good, but the wire inside can be almost dust. You can now also check if your internally or externally regulated, so if your power feed comes right off the alternator, then its internal, if it goes to a regulator block somewhere, then that's where to source power for your accessories etc.

Ah ya, no problem. I use another forum for my metric bobber build, those guys will tear you a new one just for fun. Real good forum though like this one, just a lot more attitude.

All the cloth coated wires have been snipped and removed, whoever had this re did it all with new wiring. It's all hanging loose. The one wire from the alternator goes directly to the gauge cluster in the cab.

Thanks for the tips, electrical is my worst subject but very interesting harnessing energy.
