  1. Ah ya, no problem. I use another forum for my metric bobber build, those guys will tear you a new one just for fun. Real good forum though like this one, just a lot more attitude. All the cloth coated wires have been snipped and removed, whoever had this re did it all with new wiring. It's all hanging loose. The one wire from the alternator goes directly to the gauge cluster in the cab. Thanks for the tips, electrical is my worst subject but very interesting harnessing energy.
  2. Yes Don, I did open the hoods of each and every one of them on multiple occasions for many reasons that I successfully rendered an issue to the subjugation of fixed. However, I have not once dealt with a vehicle built during the Sumerian age Therefore not once even heard of a generator on a vehicle until now. And thank you Merle for the pic, I do not have a generator. For all I knew, a 'generator' could have looked like an alternator, which clearly it does not.
  3. I think I'm not sure now if I do know the difference between a generator and alternator... I looked at the headlamp...It's a sealed 12 amp Halogen...When I bought it I don't remember if I used the lights or not... After installing the New 6V battery it goes rrrr....rrrr....rrrr....then starts....I think that was how it sounded with the old battery too, like it was dying, which it ultimately did. AND, it has only one wire coming from the alternator OR generator... There is definitely new wiring...not professionally installed but newer than 52' for sure. Which made me assume it's 12V...now I don't know.
  4. Oh man, I just realized that when I exchanged the other mammoth sized battery in for a new one, it may have been a 12 Volt...My new one says 6 Volt on it and is significantly smaller AND is the 'correct' battery for a 52' per Auto Zone...So now what?
  5. You guys really know your stuff. What are the tell tell signs that a truck has been converted from 6V to 12V?
  6. Well cool! Thank you Reg, I will gladly accept your offer! I am looking forward to getn' the 52 running smoothly! There is so much hinky wiring that is not stock under there, it must be 12V now. I see both sides of the Volt debate. I'm just runnin' it the way I got it. I'm no electrician so hard to have an informed opinion but thank you for your input! So I'm not special and my rear bumper is aftermarket...Oh well, I like it any way. My fenders are solid, I'l remember to keep the debris out, thanks for the input. Thank you
  7. Hello...Again. I have a 52' Pilot House with a 41' Dodge car engine in it according to the engine engraving D19-150648. I need a new carb top piece, it has a crack in it that goes all the way through. I have yet seen just the top for sale and no better with a whole carb...Does anyone here have one for sale or know where I can get one? OR...Is there a better carb up grade available? Also... My 52' has a wraparound diamond plate rear bumper, am I special or what?! I don't see pictures of these very often. I think it is cool. And...If a truck has had it's volts changed to 12 volt, does that mean the stock gauges wont work?...cuz they don't. Although, they look real crusty...I have another stock gauge cluster that came with the truck. Thank you all, Pothole
  8. I thought wolves sounded cooler than that...? Nice thread, I'm working on my 52' s carb and was wondering which numbers to use. Thank you!
  9. Looks like a scoop to me. I just missed a roadster show over in Portland, Oregon last week.
  10. Well thank you all. After careful and realistic consideration, this has turned into a bigger and beyond my abilities mod. I don't have the skills or the shop to do this unfortunately. I also don't have the $$ to pay someone to do it which is not what I want to do anyway.. Sounded good initially...Still sounds good, however, I'm going to keep the flat head and drive it for a while enjoying a 52' pick up truck. Perhaps this is suited for a future project.
  11. Thank you for the insight! So, a 2 inch offset for motor to the right, a 7 inch firewall recess for the tranny & engine to fit proper, meaning new motor mount placement and trans support with front suspension mods along with brake upgrades and a pile of pedal fab but I'm good with an LA 318 or 360. Hey Dave, are you saying you did the clip conversion? I know I'm not set up for that. But maybe a Dakota frame swap like you and 4mula-dx are talkin'. Are there more friendly Dakota years that suit the 52 for a more seamless mod? I appreciate both of your help on this, Thank you!
  12. Hello, I have a 52 Pilothouse that I want to put a 318 or 360 with an auto trans in it. Could you please help me get this started? What are the best known ways in which to accomplish this? So far I have only found bits and pieces of intel on this. Are there particular engine years more accommodating than others? What mods will need to be done to fit a 727 trans in? are there particular rear ends that work better than others to handle the V8? I want to keep it all Mopar, no cross corp if possible. Your help is greatly appreciated, I just want to get this started. Thank you
  13. 52' upgrades. motor,trans rear axle
