trophyjim Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 I recently bought an aftermarket floor pan which when measured should fit my 1948 Plymouth P15 Special Deluxe real nice. I have to fix some undermount brackets but the thing that is holding me up is the accelerator pedal. I removed all the bolts holding the old pan in place, but can't figure out how to remove the pan over the gas pedal. Or remove the gas pedal, drill hole and slide over pedal arm. Does anyone know if gas pedal is bolted to floor pan? Don't want to destroy the car so any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim Gano PS I am a newbie to classic car ownership, pretty handy, can weld, just need a little guidance Quote
casper50 Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 (edited) Jim my dodge is screwed to the floor at the bottom. The pedal just rests against the rod. The rod slips through the floor. Try giving the top of the pedal a jerk towards the seat. The rod sets in a round cup like thing on the back of the pedal on mine. Edited April 12, 2015 by casper50 Quote

Don Coatney Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 Grab hold of your gas pedal and pull it off. It is held on by friction with 2 round stove bolt type studs. Quote
Jeepnjay Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 Where did you order the floor pans, is it just the bolt in portion or the whole floor? Quote
RUSTYSNACK Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Glad,I found this thread its similar to what i'm doing with my 1950 Plymouth deluxe,I also am currently working on my floor pans and rockers on my own Big Block Plymouth custom project,So i cut the old patch work of a floor out of my car and i was looking my old nasty non powered brake master cylinder and decided i was going to replace it and upgrade the brakes in general to a power disc\drum set up preferably with a brake booster (ill need to stop with the big block) so when i was shopping around i seen whats sold as an old ford frame mounted booster and corvette styled master cylinder, with the same shaped brake pedal as my Plymouth,So has anyone installed one of these on their Mopar? do you think i will have clearance issues? I wonder with the width of the frame combined with the offset the booster will add that it may move my brake pedal too far to the right. i wanna keep it on the frame there isnt alotta room to move it up in the engine bay and this looked like a cool upgrade Edited April 15, 2015 by RUSTYSNACK Quote
