Don Jordan Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 My neighbor, who helps me with my car, noticed that my hood was not settling even and suggested it could use a brace. I know one was made so I checked the parts book. Problem is it doesn't give dimensions. My friend said he would make one for me if I could get a picture of what one looks like. I haven't seen that many installed so if someone has one and could snap a picture I would be appreciative. thanks Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 Here's someone's attempt to make their own brace from some small, kind of square tubing......not a good job. click on link to view picture................ http://images2.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp538%3A7%3Enu%3D3292%3E688%3E553%3EWSNRCG%3D357942%3A%3A7432%3Anu0mrj Quote

Seaside Pete Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) To save Pics. Click on thumbnail and at the bottom right there is a "close" sign and a "save" sign click "save", sometimes it opens up another copy then put your pointer over the image right click and go to "save image as" name it and choose where you want to save it. You can then go to where you've saved it and print it off. Pete Edited March 9, 2015 by Seaside Pete Quote
Andydodge Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 Just checked my 36-42 Parts manual and it shows that brace for the 1942 P12/P14 however I remember that the 1941 P11 Coupe I had had a "Hood Top Strainer" however it shows in the manual as a 2 piece, left and right assembly but it maybe a little easier to find than the 1942 one piece version and would be very similar in appearance to the 42-48 version and might be able to be modified/adapted to fit...................dunno if any of this helps tho........andyd Quote
Don Jordan Posted March 10, 2015 Author Report Posted March 10, 2015 I was able to print all the pix - thank you. I'll take them over tomorrow and see what he has to say. I don't think I've ever seen one on e bay. Do these cars ever get finished? It seems like there is always just one more thing to do. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 There is an L shaped brace that attaches to the center hood seam with a couple small nuts/bolts............and also attaches to the brace using the holes shown it an above photo. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 These hinges with a brace have a bit more length, I think, than non brace hinges....... Or, at least they have threaded holes in them to attach the braces. Quote
