52b3b Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 Hello friends news from Germany,PH needs nerves. Last fall, a fierce misfire destroyed the exhaust . I was in the "push mode" with the foot on the gaspedal on the road, when the ignition for a moment stops away . There was a huge blast and then the PH roared like a V8. With luck, I found here the exhaust of a WC model . That will be, hope so, the same. Friend Tom ( http://www.toms-oldtimer.de/) mounted the exhaust and said that sounds now so as to advance without. I did not hear them still now. Because Tom was in the process I meand, i had the feeling that a cylinder is not working Tom should go the thing on the ground. The photo shows the result. Around Christmas time, I have ordered the valves in Moparshop-Germany. Today was Christmas and the valves have arrived. Now we will see how it goes on without removing the engine. Tom said that earlier in the US, each village blacksmith made it, so do not panic. Will report what happens. Greetings from the White Sausage- gummy bear- beer country. From the price, i think the valves are a fuelpump. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 Are you doing new valve guides as well? New valves are great, but without guides they can be no further then before. Have fun setting the valves, that's one job that the talent is disappearing with the mechanics that first worked on these trucks....apparently thicker skin for setting them running and hot beside a exhaust manifold! 55 Fargo Posted March 3, 2015 Report Posted March 3, 2015 New valves oversized? If so, then the machine shop can ream the old guides to size, if not too worn out. That should work, not sure if knurling the old guides may work as an alternative....good luck and frohliche Weihnachten und ein gluckliches neues jah Quote
52b3b Posted March 7, 2015 Author Report Posted March 7, 2015 Yes, the valve guides make us have worried . The engine looked inside like been overhauled. The valves do not look old too. You also have to be lucky once in a lifetime . Next week the fender and inner fender will be disassembled and then " let's see what's going on ". Quote
