vht Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Working on my 51 Dodge business coupe. Got a few questions that I need answered. Does anyone know what ohm the gas gauge is? I'm using a gm tank with a new gm sending unit, and would like to use the stk gauge if I can. Can I use the 1 spd wiper motor by using something to convert it to 12 volts? Is there some place I can buy the window channel rubber by the ft? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to work out some of the small things while I'm working on the big things if that makes any sense. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 I believed you asked this gas gauge question on this thread linked below. http://p15-d24.com/topic/37420-another-question-for-you-guys/ Did you not like the answers you got? Quote
JerseyHarold Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 VHT, What GM gas tank did you use? Did it fit without modification? Quote
vht Posted December 21, 2014 Author Report Posted December 21, 2014 I've got a new tank I acquired from a friend out of a 70 chevelle. It has a new sending unit also, 3/8's. From measuring, it looks like it'll work great. It's not real thick so it won't hang down to far. I'll let you know how it works out. Biggest problem I see is the fill neck. Quote
_shel_ny Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Per the attached: Page 27 of the "Fuel" section in your shop manual will show that the gauge operates in conjunction with a 10-90 ohm sending unit. Quote
_shel_ny Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 For reducing the voltage to the wiper motor from 12V to 6V : Seems the VR1 from Auto Zone may work. 4 amp max RU100 from NAPA may work. 4 amp max Google search, or advance search ( http://p15-d24.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&search_in=forums) of this site may be helpful Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Speedway Motors part number 910-64103 is a voltage reducer with a 10 amp rating. See the link below. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Electric-12-Volt-to-6-Volt-Reducer-for-Motors,15824.html I purchased this unit with plans to use it on my heater motor. But I found a replacement 12 volt motor so I no longer have a use for it. PM me if interested. Quote
vht Posted December 22, 2014 Author Report Posted December 22, 2014 Thanks, I'll get the 1 from Speedway, I have to order a few things from there anyway. Quote
