49-55 Plymouth 6V positive ground generator not charging

I have a 49-55 Plymouth 6 volt, positive ground generator (GGW 6001F) that will motor but not charge. It has new bearing & bushing, spins freely and  wiring checks out OK (no breaks in connections). I have flashed it and full fielded it and no charging. Regulator is OK. Checking it was done with & without the regulator. Got any ideas of what the problem is?

I found the problem this afternoon. The armature was shorted to ground. It must be totally open (no continuity). I have a second armature and that had

the same problem. There is a good article you can google on Jeep CJ-3A which explains how to check out this generator. Just bought 2 GGW 2006F armatures on Ebay for $110.00, with free shipping.

I'd check all the coils with a good quality ohm meter & see if they're ok.

If the ohm reading is lower than stock, (or zero!) they're burnt (shorted within the coil).

If burnt they can read higher than stock as well.

No, I don't know, offhand, the correct figures. I'd have to look them up somewhere.
