dontknowitall
I have had troubles like some here fitting this Steele Window Vent rubber, but may have found a solution. thought to share it with you, Have spoken to Steele about this and they have forwarded it to their reseach department see attached pics and (although altered a bit from the original to suit this forum) correspondence with Steele dear Cindy (at Steele) . I know the Fargo is different , in shape and your vent rubber wont fit at all, its way to short. I have replaced my Fargo Vent Frame with a USA Dodge window vent..like you have in the states. So I am using the USA vent rubber (you supplied) and the vent frame of a USA Dodge B2B truck instead of the Canadian Fargo. The picture I send you shows your supplied Window Vent rubber laying next to a USA B2B 1950 Dodge Vent rubber..not a Canadian Fargo vent rubber. It shows your vent rubber is to long by maybe half inch (1/2 ') laying side by side and for me to fit it, I have to cut a section out of the middle. I have read on the pilothouse forum (USA) a few people who have used Steele's Vent replacement rubber and had issue with it because as I found too, its to long and using it in its current form it will just not fit properly. Hope this help Steele's to have another look at this Vent rubber and make them a bit shorter.. Many regards Ryan Steeles reply: I have forward this information to our Research Department. GORDON WRIGHT
Ryan, I got the same rubbers about 18 months ago, I sent my originals to Steeles to show the difference. I was ignorant of the different quarterlight frames at the time, quick learning curve. Steeles just returned my samples with no comment or reply. I did not work out your method of cut and shut, sound like a good move . I had so much trouble getting frames to fit back in the door, mine will stay there now. dontknowitall
Hi Gordon I think the rubber from Steele are of good quality, and I was able to do a simple restructure of the lenght. I do hope Steele takes notice and modifies the vent windows rubbers.. Edited June 17, 2014 by dontknowitall
Desotodav
Nice job on those rubbers Ryan! Just as a matter of interest though, what overall length did each vent window rubber end up at... 2ft 5 inch / 735mm?

Desotodav
Mine became around 145 mm ling up the holes with the original.. Thanks mate - so yours are around 10mm longer at 745mm overall. I have to go through the vent window restoration process again with my 53 'Pop' truck. I'll have to see how good the window frames are in the truck, otherwise I will have to see if I can find a good set in the shed.
