busycoupe Posted June 14, 2014 Report Posted June 14, 2014 I visited Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in the mid 1970's. We saw the WWI show. Cole Palen was flying the Fokker Tri-plane. What a hoot! It was a reproduction plane, but with an original engine. When they started it, the whole engine spun. It had no throttle, only a cut-out on the ignition. When he blipped the ignition while taxiing the plane practically turned over from the torque. When he landed they had pairs of people lining the runway to catch the wingtips so that it wouldn't ground loop. I don't think that it had any brakes on the wheels. I have often thought of going back to see it again. Perhaps this is the year. Quote
BigDaddyO Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 Yeah, that's the place and yeah, no brakes. Brakes are for kids. 1 Quote
