BobT-47P15 Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 First......here is a pic of the Ramada Inn where we will be staying on 51st Street, between Harvard and Yale Avenues. Took that yesterday. Just across the street from that Ramada is this SteinMart store with lots of nice clothing and household items, reasonably priced. Just past that is a big ol Hobby Lobby. Then when they need a break, there is a little place called "Freckles Custard" down at the end of the parking lot. Or, they might like this place which is right next to the hotel. We ate supper in this place across the street, a little pricey, with slightly unusual food. Of course, the most fun I had on this excursion was visiting with the guy (about our age) who owns this little roadster. He said it is a kit sort of thing with a Chevy 350 in it that he purchased.....did not build it himself. But he enjoys driving it on nice days. See you in a couple weeks. Quote

Norm's Coupe Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Bob;Need to find-um some things to do that dont cost nutton:D Don, Now you know that's impossible. Or, at least you should by now. Women have their own logic:confused: . They can go shopping just to look. Then spot something on sale and then buy it because, "They saved you money when they got it on sale." Yet they did not need it before they saw it on sale. I must be dense or something. Could never understand that logic myself. If you didn't need it before going shopping, how does one save money buying it on sale? After all these years I have resigned myself to the fact when they go shopping, the wife is going to come home with something. Quote

Norm's Coupe Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 My wife continues to tell me that this logic is the same as when I go to the swap meet or car show and buy something that I just couldn't leave behind. Problem is, I don't buy things even at the swap meet unless it was something I wanted before I went to the meet. That is unless I see something dirt cheap I know I can resell for a few extra bucks, so those items don't count because I will make money on it. Don't even do much of that either. I do the same thing in any store I go to. Just go in get what I went after and leave without walking around looking at what's on sale. I didn't need it when I went in, so why would I need it just because it's on sale. That goes for the hardware stores too. Needed a new small 4 foot ladder for out in the garage to reach up into the rafters. Also needed two tubes of caulking. Went in the hardware store, picked out my ladder and two tubes of caulking. Was a little hungry for a snack so did decide to pick up a bag of double dipped chocolate covered peanuts. The peanuts were not on sale though, I just decided they would be good to eat. Now, on the other hand put a women in a Dollar Store and they can really buy lots of stuff. Recently my wife went to lunch with a friend of ours who loves those Dollar stores. Now, my wife is usually pretty good and doesn't buy without a need most of the time either. However, that day she came home with a few bags of stuff. Said she only spent about $15 or $20 but she didn't spend anywhere near the amount the other woman did. The other woman spent $68 in the Dollar store and nothing was over a dollar in that store. So my wife saved money two ways. Everything she bought was only a dollar and she didn't spend as much as her friend did. Neither one needed anything when they went in the store. They only found a need after they saw the item in the store. So, again where's the logic? To my logic. The only time you save money when something is on sale (or cheap at the swap meet) is only when you were looking for it to begin with. Maybe my logic is screwed up, at least if you ask a woman. Maybe Mr. Spock could answer that one. Quote
1just4don Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Mind you this was back in the 70's,dont even KNOW if its still there. Was 105-110 in the shade every day for a week. Our meeting was right next door or adjacent(by a over the street enclosed walkway) to a 'new' shopping center. The center of which was an ICE skating rink. Spent hours of break time just watching the people skate,,,and stayed COOL the whole while!! Havent been back to Tulsa since so NO idea where I was or what it was called!! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 The only ice rink I know of is at the Fairgrounds, about 21st and Yale. Could have been another. Quote
