Just For Don Coatney.........Sometimes......

Don Coatney,

As I said before, don't strain the eyes too much looking for me in Tulsa in the coupe or a modern car. Have no plans to go there by any means of transportation.:D A little harrassing never hurt anyone.:D

IJust4Don and Eric,

I call that my P15 Reefer.:D Posted the story in 2005 when that happened. Was doing about 50 or 55 MPH on a two lane highway on the way to the Goodguys show. About 4 or 5 miles from the show a semi passed me going the opposite way. The air suction must have been just right at the time. As the truck passed and the air from both of us meeting that close yanked the visor up like that. Just continued on to the show. Removed it a few minutes after getting there and taking this picture. No damage to the car, not even a scratch. Sold the visor and will not put another one on the car.

Sometimes my coupe does get further away from home than the front of the garage.

2002 it was here a couple of times (picture 1): [url']http://www.wednesdaynightclassics.com/gallery.shtml[/url]

2004 & 2005 it was in Waukesha WI Goodguys meet (picture 2 and 3). It's also been to a couple of other cruise ins.

And, I do drive it to the store once in awhile and around the neighborhood.:D

Strut you stuff while you can!!!! Butt I have to say. Don Is no Holds Barred!!!

I remember when you first posted the story. Your coupe is good looking. Did it ever have the stainless below the doors? Is that on only the "Special Deluxes"? Eric

Eric,

I took the stainless off the left side when I replaced the rocker panel on that side several years ago. Still have to do a little work on the quarter panel and a small spot on the cowl. Doesn't show up in the pictures because it's a small area. Just never got back to it. Seems like each year I do something else to the car instead. The left side stainless is in good shape and is up in the rafters of the garage. Guess I'll have to find a "round tuit" to get it back on. Mine is the Special Deluxe but not sure if the stainless was on the Deluxe model or not.

This is what happens when you concentrate on getting the car running good first. Once it's running, you want to keep it in running condition and drive it more than work on it. So.........let that be a lesson. Do the body work first, then the engine.

Dave,

Don and I are just jesting when we go back and forth on driving the car. Sort of like him and Pete do when they talk about who's going to win the "Big Race". Don't think you'll ever see that race happen (except in their imagination) even if they do get together with their cars. Think the only race between them will be to see who gets to the lunch counter first.:D

However, I do pull the car in and out of the garage a lot without going anywhere like Don said, especially in the winter. I do that for two reasons. One, so I can do other things in the garage. Two, in the winter I like to start it up and pull it into sun to keep it running and keep the dampness out of it. I think that helps the critters out of the car too. Don knows that so he ribs me about it.:D

My neighbors were all wondering when and where I got my car. I had in another garage last year because I was out of town so much. I too back mine out almost daily so I can start it and tinker with the darn carb. I saw somewhere maybe here in the "Spotter's Guide" what distinguished one model from another. I think they will race. Bets should probably be placed soon. Eric
