My generator has been getting a little noisy and the ammeter has been getting erratic on my '41 Dodge. I have a spare from a '50 Plymouth that I got with some drive train parts I bought off a rod conversion. I was surprised to find a couple differences. First on my old one the Field and Armature terminals are on a horizontal plane along the length of the generator. The other has them on a  circumferential line around the generator. I also had to use the top adjusting bracket from the '50 because the '41 bracket was too short. Of course I had to remove the fan and pulley from the water pump to get the bracket bolt out of the block. Yes it goes into the water jacket. All in all a couple hour job. Works great now though. Ready for leaf peeping season. I will rebuild the old one and keep it available as a spare.
