Guest Dodge Joe Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 What is good to use on threads when putting the brass fitting into the master cylinder? I leaks, and I've tryed pipe tape and it still leaks. Dodge Joe Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 Joe; Not sure what brass fitting you are talking about. If it is the fitting where the brake line connects no pipe dope is required as this is a double flare fitting. The seal is made at the flare and not by the threads. If this fitting is leaking you most likely have a cracked or bad flare. Pipe dope is only required on tapered pipe threads. Quote
grey beard Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Joe Dodge, You wouldn't by any chance be using a remote master cylinder reservoir that keeps the ms filled by gravity, would you? If you are, please know that there is a very tiny vent hole drilled into the cap for obvious reasons that must be brazed/epoxied shut in order to use the remote reservoir, or I guarantee a steady leak.
