Zeke1953
Looks like a solid truck. Good luck with it. I like the turn signals mounted on the roof - never seen that before! Zeke
dave5711
You accomplished a lot in less than a year! Thanks It was a lot of determination. Of course a machine like that is always a work in progress. I recently found one wayclutch/sprague springs in the trans pan, so I am currrently upgrading to a bunch of race parts. My most recent photo....sorry to the dial up guys
dave5711
and yes the metal on the fargo is WAAAAYYYYY better than the metal on the 64 was. I do think I'll be ditching the signals from the roof though...LOL:)
Tony_Urwin
Yeah, looks like the cab is growing warts. I have seen a few B series trucks with turn signals on the tops of the fenders, though. Anybody know if these were a factory option?
Guest Dave Claussen
Tony, it's doubtful they were a factory option but many were installed "aftermarket" for better visibility. I've seen several pictures here on the forum of them installed on top of the cab and the other popular location on top of the front fenders just over the wheel wells. My truck had them on the fenders and then they were removed and the holes were patched with tiger hair and putty. Not real pretty or permanent. I had considered putting them back on but scrapped that idea in favor of LED guts up in the front turn signals in the grill. Got the LED cards from Lambert Enterprises in Norris, Tenn. and retrofitted them to the existing turn signal buckets.
Tony_Urwin
Great idea, Dave. Are they 6V LEDs? I wanted to do something to improve the visibility of the turn signals, front and rear. The blurry pictures of my bed seem to show the rear taillights barely visible under the stake bed. LEDs might help them to be seen. I might consider some teardrop indicators on top of the front fenders. Maybe something from an auto of the same approximate vintage.
Vintrader
It is pretty easy to change the Org. parking light in the front to a 2 element socket and bulb 6 or 12 volt and then you retain the stock look. What I am interested in is the small chrome fins on top of the fenders above the headlights. I have never seen that before. Has anyone else? Guest Dave Claussen
Tony, Lambert Ent. does carry some 6 volt kits. As with anything, the prices run the gamut from reasonable to expensive. Nice folks to do business with, though. I talked to the president of the company,Ron Lambert, one Sunday morning while trying to place a phone order. Real nice guy, and he knows his products very well. They have a lot of reproduction stuff if you want to stay with the original look. They also do custom stuff for just about anything you might want to do. They have some examples of some custom work they have done for other customers on their website. Here's a link to their website. http://www.lambertenterprises.com/
David Muma
It is interesting to see that your 1949 Fargo has the underdash mounted ebrake handle while my 1950 (according to the serial number) has the floor mounted ebrake.
David Muma
Guess the difference might be that mine is a one ton four speed. Any ideas?
