1952/53 Dodge

Recommended Posts

Sorry for a second post, this is the front view. I have the original wheels and hubcaps. Took them off so no one would steal them. Obviously need a grill and emblems. I am going to "patina", keep the old paint, and stay original except for wheels and tires, probably disc brakes and a good heater. It's a three on the tree, but I have a four speed, so will change the rear axle so that 4th gear is "overdrive". Enough for now. Enjoy! Any suggestions?

keep posting pictures of projects, and the documentation of the progress. (alla Jim Sheppards B1B and currently Merles ute)

the posting of pictures and questions provided inspiration for the rest, and encouragement for yourself. :)

Hi There PFleming,

I can help you with your grille if you need one. By the way, going to a 4-speed will do nothing for your top end. Both three and four speed trans are direct drive in high gear. What you gain with the 4 speed is a compound low gear only, plus a bunch of extra weight.

If you do elect to use the 4 speed, cast an eye at the drain plug on the bottom. If it is on an angle, it is an unsynchronized crash box that you don't want unless you enjoy double clutching EVERY shift up and down. The 4 speed synchro trans box has the drain plug level with the floor. JMHO
