Alexander Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 Hi Gents, Other than having an upholstery shop make one, where can I find a boot for my 51 dodge? I suspect its the same for Desoto Chrysler and perhaps Plymouth? I check around and could not find anyone making them. Your thought or ideas would be very much appreciated. Alex Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 1949-50 is one series size/fit and 1951-2 will be another size/style as came from the factory. To fit the boot correctly it will have to be custom made and the snap buttons matched exactly to the car by the auto upholster who fits it to your car. I have not seen any pre-made nice fitting top boots for our 1949-52 Mopar cars. Plymouth boots are different than the bigger body- Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler cars. Bob Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 I had mine made by a local upholstry shop. I took him the tan Haartz canvas material, which matched the top. He did a good job with it. Since the original boot tucked down behind the seat and had no snaps there......he put Velcro on the back of the seat and front flap of the boot. Worked out fine. When the top was up, I just put the boot into the well...with front edge still attached. Quote
Alexander Posted January 11, 2013 Author Report Posted January 11, 2013 Thanks for the feedback and photos. I did not know 49-50 and 51-52 boots are different and not interchangeable. This might explain why the one I got with my 52 does not fit. My car actualy came with one, but it never fit. I was maybe it just shrunk. Perhaps what I have is a 49-50 boot? OK I guess I have to visit my local Upholstery shop and have one made. Quote
