49 pilot house disc brake conversion

Hi all

I am in Australia and parts are a problem over here.

I am looking at a disc brake conversion and have looked at scarebird which looks good. They don't supply a kit so I have to source the parts myself and as they are not available over here that has been a mission although I finally suceeded to find all the parts at the one place that would send to Australia (Summit Racing). Is there other choices available or is this my best bet. Other parts I am after at this stage are the window channels and rubbers (sliding and quarter window)

Hello fellow Aussie!

Parts are not too hard to find here in Oz if you now where to look. Vent window rubbers are a little harder to find as our 'import' trucks had different windows to the overseas trucks. Sliding and fixed window rubbers are readily available here. I'll send you a PM.

Be sure to add a few photos of your truck here as it will make it easier to see what you have, and tell us where you are.

Dav's your man re the differences in the Oz trucks.........I have adapted discs to my 1940 Oz Dodge 35 yrs ago using P76 Discs & Calipers.........as far as I know the trucks use the same stub axle as the one used on cars up to 1940.......do you know if this is correct?...............andyd

Hi AndyD,

I'm planning another trip down your way in another month or 2. I'll email you when I look like heading south.

My mate Vic is still waiting for his stub axles from Melbourne for his disc brakes. He reckons that he found a fella here closer to home that he should have used. I won't be going that way on my 53 coupe truck - too much of a stickler for originality!
