Hey all, have this old garbage utility trailer, haul garbage and junk with it to the dump. I have had this since the early 1980s, it was made from a Chebby box, homemade frame, Model A or T axle, and looks like Chebby 16 inch truck tire rims.

The magnesium chloride, did a number on the already rusty, patinaed paint, so today stripped it down quick, shot on rusty metal primer, let that set-up for about 2 hours, then shot on, the Hokey Blue.

The paint Max Gard, by Benjamin Moore, encapsulator type paint, seems like Rustoleum or Tremclad to me, mixed it 3 parts paint, 1 part duplicolor reducer, shot on 2 coats for a good cover, just a couple of runs, paint went on great, when I did not care too much about the job specimen.

Here are the pics....

Nah Bob, I didn't pic the color, my 10 YO Son did, oh well, at least the rust is covered.....LOL ps the good news is, some more spray painting experience with the spray gun, the more you do the better it is...

"Practice makes perfect"......as they say.

Good that your son is having some input on car related stuff.

We can always use future gearheads.:)

Hows this for a pair of "trailer trash". This year it's "beater", next year it will be "sweeter".....

Gonna paint riims, and get hubcaps, they are 16inch rims 6 bolt, probably GMC

Another sad day for koolness & patina !:(

Chance, Trust me, this was not just some nice patina ,nor was it cool. It was heavy corrosion working through the steel.

This was a direct result of magnesium chloride exposure. If it were good old patina,it would have been left alone. The inside is nice old patina, and will be left alone.

The truck cab was heavy corrosion, blue, white, coral, rust. If the cab were like the box,it wouild have been left alone, but my choice was limited.

I would have loved an old patina truck, but no such luck, with the exception of the box. If I could paint the cab in faux patina to match the box, i would try it, but don't think I would be able to do it...
