old-idaho-iron Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 ok mopar guru's, this might sound like a dumb question, but i've got 2 41 plymouths now, both missing the entire front suspension, for one of them i am picking up the entire front suspension off of a 41 plymouth 4 door, my next question is for the other one, i've got a line on a 41 desoto front suspension. is everything the same on the desoto as it is on the plymouth??meaning can i just bolt on the desoto stuff onto my plymouth??any info would be appreciated. thanks Quote
claybill Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 wish you were closer....i have the front suspension from a 46 ply. but i am near chicago. bill Quote
james curl Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 Do a search here on the forum, this subject came up last week. The answer was yes, almost all of the pieces will interchange if I read the reply correctly. I think the question was asked here but it might have been in the H.A.M.B., I believe that AndyDoge replayed as well. Quote

desoto1939 Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 As state in a prior posting the Chrys/Desoto used the bigger front end control arms and bushings, etc. The Ply/Dodge parts will work for each other because you had the smaller engine in these cars so the weight was lighter so the parts were not of the same beefiness. Suggest that you also pick up a rate book. These rate books also list the major parts that the garges would fix and repair and they also list the mopar parts number so this way you can cross reference which parts will interchange. builtfercomfort Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 All of the above - it's possible it would bolt in but more likely not. Broadly and generally, DeSotos sometimes interchanged with Chryslers, sometimes with Dodge, not as often with Plymouth. Quote
claybill Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 it isnt hard to find 41ply front ends..or 46-7 either, also fit i think. Quote
Jim Benjaminson Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Usually DeSoto suspensions were used on the 7-passenger Plymouths because they were bigger and heavier than the regular Plymouths. Quote
