Suess Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 So I rebuilt the front end on the 47 coupe. Bought new springs from eaton (2 inch lowered) put the springs in set on the ground and noticed the passenger side is extremely stiff. Took the springs out made sure the a-arms move freely triple checked to make sure it wasn't hung up. Put the springs back in same problem. There is no metal on the front of the car. But I figured that I should have some give in it. Any ideas? Quote
mrwrstory Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 When I set my car on the ground with no front sheet metal I found the same thing,...almost no spring by jumping up and down on the frame. Now with sheet metal, bumpers and a radiator full of coolant, there is more "spring". Understand also that lower(ing) springs will likely be much stiffer than the old stockers. Quote
Suess Posted May 29, 2012 Author Report Posted May 29, 2012 Is it normal for one to be "bouncy" and the other not? Once the engine/trans and metal are in I know it will squish. But geeze this is stiff.. Quote
Rusty O'Toole Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 With no engine or front sheet metal or bumper the springs should be fully extended and rigid. I would be concerned about the one that is flexing. Quote
laynrubber Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 I am in the same situation, engine out and no sheet metal. Springs have NO bounce, on the bumpstops. Quote
