55 Fargo Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Hi all, would anyone know what discplacement this engine would be, it is a flathead 6 from a 1955 Fargo 1/2 ton truck, it is a Canadian model, the number on the casting is T335 2184C, I read that a Canadian Fargo for 1955 is a 251 ci. I own this engine it was used in the truck until 3 years ago. It is going to be my future engine for my 48 Chrysler coupe. this engine I want to beef up complete with the dual carbs/exhaust, make the coupe into a bit of a street rod, instead of pure stock, it will also have a standard 3 spd trans, with OD and a 3.54 rear end...........Thanx Fred Quote
55 Fargo Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 You betcha, all canadian blocks are long since the plant opened in Windsor 1937, are the numbers similar to your new engine............Fred Quote
PatS.... Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Mine has no engine number at all...doesn't look like it ever did. Quote
Rodger S-11 Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Hola Sir The biggest bang for the buck is to have an dual exhaust out-let on the exhaust manifold. After you aquire the dual out-let manifold, have dual exhaust pipes the same diam as the exhaust manifold in-side diam made at the local muffler shop to an dual in and single out muffler. The 2.5 inch in-side diam out-let muffler will let you breath better while keeping the audio level liviable. Do this and drive while you are seeking other performance parts. Did the Chrysler have the M-6 Transmission when you found it , or the less used three speed ??? I ask this since the rear axle ratio that you have was an M-6 standard ratio. And the three speed was not used in very many Chrysler's. Rodger & Gabby COS Quote
55 Fargo Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 Rodger, it has the M5 trans and of course fluid drive, but for me I don't think I want this setup, but I have been known to change my mind from time to time. I personally have not seen a 3 speed 46 to 48 Chrys, evryone I have found have been clunkomatic. My car has had this added into it in the early 80s, it also had a semi-auto originally, it's my parts car that now has these items for me to use if I wish.........Thanx Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 T335, for some reason there listed as being 228ci or 251ci. 25 inches Dodge Truck Canada C1-B6, C3-B6, Fargo FC1-B6, FC3-B6 1954-1956. Quote
55 Fargo Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 Thanx Tony, I was under the impression the Fargo truck was a 251ci for 1955, is this in fact correct, is this what mine is..Thanx Fred Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 You would probable have to measure the stroke to confirm the engine size. Quote
