Rear speaker ???

So I have my Mopar 803 radio working. Looking at the photofact schematic it shows a part listed for speaker two and the rear package shelf has an opening for a 6x9. It doesn't show how two connect it? I assume it is parallel with speaker one. It only has a single wire so the other is ground??? Is it that simple?

Not sure of specifics on the 803 radio, but tube radios of that vintage often used loudspeakers with 3.2 ohm impedance voice coils. It would be best to use a rear speaker fader control to adjust the volume between the front and rear loudspeakers, and try to find a rear loudspeaker with the same impedance as the front one. The fader control ensures that the speaker impedance load on the radio's output remains relatively constant regardless of which loudspeaker is receiving the most power. Maybe your Photofact specifies correct loudspeaker impedance. If in fact the impedance should be 3.2 ohms, a 4 ohm loudspeaker should be close enough to work just fine. And tube type radios should always have a loudspeaker connected to the output when they are turned on. Damage can sometimes occur if they are energized with no output load connected.

Thanks you are correct on the impedance. So just add a tap off of the case speaker with a fader? The other wire I assume would be the ground.

If my memory serves me correctly (and it sometimes does not), there should be a connection on the fader for each loudspeaker, and one for the radio's output (total of 3 terminals). And the ground serves as the other loudspeaker connection.

My car came with what I beleive is the factory rear speaker. It has a switch under the dash with 3 positions, front only, rear only, both. It used black plastic lamp type cord for conection to front. On the package tray there are about 8 randomly drilled holes to let sound out. This car has a lot of factory options. The speaker could have been dealer instaled.

How many of you know what the red switch on left in the second photo is for? I twists and lights up. I thought is was a map light when I first got the car.
