I purchased new sending unit from JC whitney and what to install in tank on b3b.The unit from JC mount is a larger diameter. I was wondering if anybody has installed one in their tank and did you have to make a new hole or where you able to fit the JC unit into the exsisting hole and how did you accomplish this Looking for ideas or suggestions?

I bought a similar unit, and laid the locking ring down overtop of the new sending unit, marked the diameter, then ground the top ( it was a large chromed flat piece) to fit just like the original.

I probably need to get a new sending unit for my '49 B1FA and was wondering if the one from JC Whitney would work for me.... Can you post the part number please? Also, any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I also need a sending unit and was wondering about the one from JC Whitney if it is 10-70 ohms and the one for my B-3-B is 10-90 ohms does it read like a 1/4 of a tank when it is empty.

Hi guys, I just did this on my 53 Cranbrook. I used the base of the original unit. I ground off the old parts leaving me with the original round disk. I then, dissassembled the new JCWhitney unit and trandfered the parts to fit the old original disk. I then cut everything down to the proper size and placed the rheostat in the proper place to achieve the correct readings. Evenything worked perfectly.
