Lehman57 Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 I have to make a new choke for my Sisson choke as used on a Chrysler engine circa 1942. I have 3 questions: --Is the rod straight? I think so, but am not sure. --How long is it? --Are the bends at the connections in the same, or opposite, direction? Thanks. Quote
plyroadking Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 I have a spare rod I can send you if your interested Quote
Rusty O'Toole Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 The illustrations I have all show a rod, bent 90 degrees at the top to go in the hole in the choke lever. With 2 or 3 bends on the way down to clear the carburetor. To make a new rod, lock the Sisson choke with a pin or wire as you would to adjust the choke. Close the choke plate. Measure the length needed. Make a suitable rod, bent as necessary for clearance. If it is the right length and doesn't hit anything and is strong enough not to get bent accidentally it will work as well as the factory one. Quote
