austinsailor Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 I bought an Edmunds manifold and got some more parts in the deal. I knew there were 2 distributors, but what is this one? I have the feeling it's not the normal run of the mill replacement. And, what is the box that the coil wire goes to? Quote
austinsailor Posted March 21, 2012 Author Report Posted March 21, 2012 I have no doubt it's the coil. I took it by my d time machine shop and he says it's either high performance or marine, but he doesn't know which. It is dual points. Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) You got some good parts there Gene! Here is a long block Mallory ZCM 201 DX distributor I got from a 1950 Chrysler Windsor with the matching optional Mallory "MagSpark" coil-same as yours-they are quite the odd looking coil!. This distributor has the vacuum advance on it. These distributors are a real good piece too. I run one in my 48 T&C 8 cylinder and one in my 51 Plymouth. Got both of them new. Good score Gene! austinsailor Posted March 22, 2012 Author Report Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) I actually bought it for the Edmunds manifold. He put the distributors in with it. The distributor in the picture in his ad was a stock one, didn't have a clue the other was anything else. Looks like it should work on my 251 hot rod motor. Go with the headers and dual carbs.
