I picked these up on eBay for next to nothing and wondered if any of you electrical gurus could tell me how to hook one up to a 6 volt flattie. They have 2 terminals on the back. I am assuming they are 6 volt because they max out at only 5K. Do I just hook each terminal to the + and - terminals on the coil er what:confused:

Not sure about the hookup on the tachs, but I am interested also. I have seen these before at Hershey.

I would guess it is a 12 volt however because of the pentastar. As for the rpm range, I don't recall ever seen a marine engine that was designed to run over 5000 rpm continuously.

I was told that on a lot of tach's you also need the sender that goes along with it. It fits on the coil or distributor, forgot which. If you need a sending unit with it and don't have one, the tach won't work. Again, I don't know where to hook one up either, just going by what I was told.

I'm in the same "boat" as you Reg. I got this neat AC marine tach at a swap for $5.00. It's marked 6 cyl. But I haven't been able to make it work on my 6v + ground car or my 12 v - ground boat so I guess I'm missing a transmitter. Too bad, I like the deco look of the faceplate.
