claybill Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 i picked up a 4speed trans for a pickup, vintage 1940-1..(pt-105). my question is...where is the fourth speed...? after third or before first? was it an additional low gear, or was it an additional highway ratio...OR were the gears evenly spaced out, ending in fourth at 4.1 like the cars? this trans came out of a modified roadster hooked up to a 230 dodge. claybill Quote
Reg Evans Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 1st gear on one the old 4 speeds is for pulling stumps. 2nd gear is very similar if not the same as 1st on a 3 speed. Quote
claybill Posted April 14, 2007 Author Report Posted April 14, 2007 got it.....low is the added gear and it is REALLY LOW. all else is nearly the same.. thanks everyone. bill Quote
