I'm working on rebuilding my front end on my 53 B4B. It was quite a mess. Somebody had straightened out the drag link and welded angle iron to it. So I don't trust whats there. I think it has the wrong tie rod in it. The solid tie rod with out the two ends measures 47and 1/4 inchs. Is this correct for a 1/2 ton? I put in all new parts but it's not right. Can you guys tell me the right length? thanks

I don't have a measurement for you on the drag link, but it should have a bend in it. If it was straightened it is most probably too long. The steering should still work OK, but it may hit something at full stroke. Or, I suppose it's possible that the steering gear will bottom out before getting to full turn in one direction if the link is too long.
