randroid Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Gents, I want to change the spark plugs in Lynn's 2004 Stratus but the engine is sideways in the car and it looks like I could easily break something getting at the ones by the firewall. Couldn't find anything on them on the net except for a site that knew how to do it and would tell me for $38. I've been to the library before and they're not strong with books relating to the car. Question: How much trouble am I going to get in diving head-first and blindly into the project? Thanks, -Randy Quote
Phil Martin Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 some v6 have a bracked on top front of engine. unhook it and tilt engine forward to get at back plugs. Quote
oldmopar Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 I have always disliked the sidewards front wheel drive engine. Proud to say I have at least for now rid my self of that headache. My 3 daily drivers are a 77 Impala wagon,93 GMC G2500, 2000 s10 Quote
48mirage Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 I did a little research and the best I can figure is that you have to remove about 13 bolts and nuts to remove the plenum to get to the plugs. Then there is the replacement gaskets to add to the costs. I saw one reference to instructions on the autozone website but you had to register to access their repair procedures. Quote
randroid Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 48mirage, Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to check it out. -Randy Quote
