'42 Plymouth vs '48 Plymouth

I understand the sentimental thing. If a '42 is what you had the fond memories in. I could see why you would want to trade. Tim makes a good point, '42s are fewer and farther between. If all the hard to come by parts are there, in good shape on the '42 I say why not. Just ask yourself which car you would be happier in the end with, even if you have to jump a few more hurdles like an interior. Then again, have you become attached to the one you own now?

If someone offered me a '42 Desoto even trade for my '46 I'd have to decline. That year Desoto is way up the list of my favorites but I have a good history and memories of my car. Hard to believe a man can get so attached to a mechanical metal machine but it happens. Good luck.

Are the vinyl seats seat covers or actual upholstry job.

If the seats, springs, etc are in decent condition, perhaps an auto or

regular upholstry shop could sew up slip covers made to fit, from a

material you like. Might be a good temporary cure.
