My car is equipped with P 205 75 15 Radial tires, on stock rims, this is on my 1947 Chrysler Club Coupe.

What size of modern radial can I go up to, with the stock rims, and with this car period.

I was thinking of going up to P 215 75 15 or P 225 75 15, this would throw my speedo of a bit, but I am out by 5 mph on the high side at 60 mph..Thanx for any info, tried a search but did not turn up the answer

I use 215/75r15 up front & 225/70r15 on rear, both are 87.25 circumference...the difference is hardly noticeable. 10mm wider...not a big difference. I could probably have gone an inch wider...but not wanting to push it. I also have 5 inch after market smoothie wheels. I do not know about how wide you should go on the old 4.5 wides. I had a bit of a hard time mounting the ones I have on the 5 wide wheel...I tried mounting a 205 wide on a 4.5 original wheel and it was tough to get it on there...it actually was too tight and ruined the side wall in the process...the tire was destroyed .

I like the 215 size for a Plymouth.

As the Chrysler is a little larger, maybe 225.

Don't know if 235 would be a bit large or not.
