Todd B Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 We had a blast. I was told there was 18,000 spectators in 3 days. And I am sure more then half went into the camper to see it. I will attempt pictures Todd B Quote
Todd B Posted March 26, 2007 Author Report Posted March 26, 2007 I would like to get some professional pictures of the inside. These don't seem to work for me. During the ISCA Awards, we received the Street Achievement "Design & Originality" award. I am not sure if they made it up just for us or not. I felt a little guilty when there was vehicles that owners had spent over $500,000 dollars on and we kept hearing that ours was the best thing here. You have to remember this is Wisconsin and most people will pick a rusty old truck (with a built in beer cooler) over something they will have to wash & polish every day. We really did have a blast and met a ton of wonderful people from all over. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 So glad you had such a great time and also congratulations on the award! A very good showing. Quote
DAVE KNOXX TENN Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Verry creative.Where will you go next????? Quote
Ken_Hart Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 you actually drive that.. how do you keep from tearing the porch off when coming in and out of driveways or other steep inclines. Whats the history/ story on it (details please)... Quote
Todd B Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 Ken, I haven't had any trouble with bottoming out. You just have to plan ahead. I came up with the idea for an advertising tool for our Haunted house season. It started out to just be a shell that I could park at different gas stations, it turned out so nice that we finished the inside. I drive it almost anywhere, will only go 55 max. I usally hold it at 50 miles an hour to save the engine and try to avoid windy days. I had to add leaf springs in all 4 corners to help with the cornering. I only paid $100 for the truck and only replaced leaf spring bushings & pins, tires, gas tank, wheel cylinder kits, wiring and a water pump. On the way to Green Bay I blew a fuel pump 1 mile from my fathers and nursed it there and changed it with an old 218 fuel pump that was on my first original 49 I had in 1980. Old iron is a lot of fun and a thanks to the organizers of this site. Its fun to share stories with ones who care. Todd B Quote
PatS.... Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Love old old trucks made into cabins. Yours is really nice. Ever see a book called "Rolling Homes" by Jane Lidz? http://www.housetrucks.com/ Quote
Todd B Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 Someone told me about that site last fall after a parade we attended. There is some really nice trucks in there. I had to show my dad that site to help support that all the beer and whiskey I drank when I was younger had nothing to do with my way of thinking. It helped to see there is "others" Todd B Quote
Ken_Hart Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 you sure it was not beer and shine you were drinking as a youngster.. I was going to suggest you build a trailer to hold the stil... (but dry ice in it to look like it cooking some fresh shine....) Quote
Todd B Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Posted March 30, 2007 We are actually building a trailer right know that will look like an old S#*t house. In there will be all my plumbing, Sink, Toilet & shower. I will also be able to strap my bike down in the back and when we get to a campground we will be able to go riding. Todd B Quote
