Pops Out of Second Gear.....

Hi there, I hope someone can tell me why my 36 D2 Tranny pops out of second gear. It has to be held on to to keep it in gear. Thanks

I would guess one of two things, linkage or worn gear. I'm guessing your 36 has the same tranny as my '35 Plymouth which would mean there is no linkage, the shifter is mounted on the floor and goes directly into the transmission itself. If so, removing and working on them is fairly simple and second gear is not very expensive.

MotoR's manual has a step by step description on how to do it. (Start by taking out the drive shaft disconnecting the pumpkin end first).
