Guest fordodgeconnections Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I'm really having a difficult time locating the VIN# on this truck. It had one tag behind the passenger visor but it is blank. I have checked both sides of the frame front, cleaned and cleaned....no luck. I even checked back a ways. Is there any other places to look? What happens if I can't locate it at all? I need to have a CHP verify the truck to finish the registration. Anyone run into this before? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 It should be on the left side of the front frame, just ahead of the front axle. There are pictures on the DPETCA site. I found mine in that exact location. You may need to take a wire brush on a drill to find it. Merle Quote
Guest fordodgeconnections Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 hmmm.... I don't think its a match with the paperwork. paperwork id ends in 809, frame shows 149 yikes.......................................... Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Could your paperwork have the engine number? I've heard that was the case in some states back then. Of course if the engine has been swapped out, you're S.O.L. Quote
Guest fordodgeconnections Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I checked all the engine #s and did not see a match. It looks like once I get it running I can drive it to the CHP and they will give me a new #. Seems kinda easy and maybe there will be more to it. Maybe they just check to see if it has been reported stolen or something. I do have a paper trail and left a message for the person that sold it to the person I purchased it from. The CHP are very nice here. They would even send an officer here to Julian to fill out the form if I had matching #s. I thought that was cool and was wishing the #s matched. Quote
