Robert Horne Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Have been working to add a little more modern master cylinder. It is working good. The MC is a rebuilt Mustang II, $16 from Advance Auto. I left the original MC in place, and added a longer push rod through it. Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Bob; What I have learned is you will need the smallest bore (5/8" for a Mustang) in your replacement master cylinder or else the required pedal pressure will be more than your legs can produce. Quote
Robert Horne Posted November 27, 2010 Author Report Posted November 27, 2010 Thanks Don. I will give it a test drive soon, see if I will be happy with it. Quote
YukonJack Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 What year Mustang is the master cylinder from? What are you using for the longer push rod? Saw the same swap in a magazine years ago, but I can't find it now. Quote
Robert Horne Posted November 28, 2010 Author Report Posted November 28, 2010 The MC is a 1975 Mustang II. I used the original push rod from the 48, with an addition hollow rod from something in my workshop. The L shaped bracket is just a piece of angle iron. I drilled a hole into the original 48 bracket , added a couple of washers for spacers. Quote
