Trip to the modern u-pull (on and off topic)

We stopped at the u-pull near Binghamton a couple of weeks ago in our eternal search for a Lumina door in Jasper Green (some kid hit our car a while ago). They always have a few picked-over oldies there, this time featuring a Metropolitan, Hudson, '49 Ford and '68 Pontiac LeMans.

The new-age pick-n-pulls aren't as much fun as the old style yards, but I still enjoy walking through one occasionally.

Our Pick-N-Pull here currently has a 58 Dodge (Canadian) 4 door flat six auto in the For Sale lot.

Complete, on flat tires but in pretty decent shape.

At least they will give someone a shot at saving it before it gets cannibalized.

This weeks special is ....doors $19.99. Luminas a plenty, but don't think I have ever seen jasper green:)

Jasper Green is Red Green's long lost cousin! Actually, it's the dark metallic green they used from 1997-2001. It was very popular but I can't find a car that color with a good RF door.

When I was there, the weekend special was even better: $14.99 for any door, fender, bumper, hood, or trunk!

They had several Jasper Green Monte's and we'd see the nose sticking out and get all excited, only to get close and see it was a 2-door.

I must not be living right!! I never seem to see any of these gems laying around that appeal to my darker side.

Bob is always posting photos he takes while he is just out driving around. Others keep finding neat junk yards.

When I was in high school and college the same happened to me all the time, but of course at that age I had no money to back up my dreams. Now everything has reversed.

I am down to my '48 New Yorker coupe, '48 Desoto Coupe, and 1976 Mercury Grand Marquis coupe. Finally, got ahold of the fella that has the 1954 Windsor that has a 265 with the power flite two-speed auto tranny. He wants $750 for it. But, he thinks the body is in good shape and that the whole car should be saved. We, my mechanic and I, plan on going for a look see after Thanks Giving. I am very excited. If the body is in rough shape and the engine will turn over, it'll be a gift for my '48 Desoto.

That engine gets some really good reviews on the internet compared to the older models.
