Don Coatney Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Just curious if you have ever been to the Himes Racing Museum in Bay Shore, NY? I was there a few years ago. Quote
aero3113 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 No, I have not been there. I am not too far from Bay Shore, would like to visit one day. I remember when you posted these pics a while back and was thinking of going over there. Is it worth a visit? I did run into the Ace at a local small car show. Quote

I was taken there by my good friend Emil also known as randomrodder and 46 driver on the HAMB and many other forums. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I was never to the museum but did go to the stock car races in Freeport a couple of times when I was a kid. Quote
Powerhouse Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) I'm ashamed to say I never got there. I wish I had while I was still there. Marty is great guy. Always full of stories and helpful hints. He's got a neat 37 Ply sedan in his collection, and that thing puuuurs. He had the water injection on that thing...I don't know if it was actually hooked up. What a riot, and a wealth of Racing/Automobile history. But don't piss him off...hahaha. Anyway, AERO, you should stop by the Mcdonalds on a sat night...chances are he'll be there. Almost forgot, he also helps out with that neat SHELL STATION out in Yaphank. Edited November 4, 2010 by Powerhouse Quote
aero3113 Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Can you just show up there? Powerhouse is this the station you are talking about? I have never been there either. Looks like I will be stopping by once I'm back together for some pics . http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Yaphank_Garage.jpg Quote
Powerhouse Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Yes, thats the place! I've never actually gone when it was "open". Makes for great pics. Quote
lanny haff Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 I wasn't aware of that museum but sounds like I need to visit Me + Marty were friends back in the 50s 60s I bought a34 Dodge p.u. from him. Every Friday + Saturday we would tow our stock cars to Freeport + race. My mom + dad used to drive. Most of the time we barely make our entrance fee back but it was a good time. Lanny Haff Quote

lanny haff Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 No I live in Greenarces FL which is near W Palm Bch. How long has it been since you saw Marty? I will probably go up there in the spring + I will look him up. If you see him tell him I said hi. Your thread brought back many good memories of Freeport stadium. There was some awesome flathead 6s running there. Quote
