grey beard
The determining factor that will answer your question is what type head/block you have. Look at the front of the head and block for a round protrusion, which indicates an INTERNAL type bypass system. This type engine uses the straight thermostat housing with no hose connection to the water pump externally. If the block and head are completely flat across the front, the engine is the earlier EXTERNAL type bypass system and this will require the larger thermostat housing that includes a two-inch-long hose connection to the wter pump - external bypass is visible upon opening the hood. dontknowitall
Thanks for that, however I have already established that it is a external bypas system, no extrusion of the head, its flat. As these parts were missing I have no idea what it shoud have. What I was asking is if there is a differens between a straight or angle thermostat.. Tony WestOZ
I have seen both styles on trucks but the most common is the straight up type. I think the bent one was more common on the cars out here.
