JoelOkie Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) I been after em for a while, but one nagging drip near the front right side, where the oil puddled slightly between the oil pump and fuel pump, where it would drip over the pan lip, and on to the floor. Had tried tightening both, to no noticable affect. Pulled the fuel pump, (looked more likely to be where the leak was), and sure enough, on the previous install the lower bolt had missed the hole in the gasket, and it (the gasket) had a slight fold over. I didn't have another gasket, and couldn't remember if cereal box material was suitable for the fuel pump gasket, but did have a piece of slightly thicker rubber impregnated cork, (ahem..I had absolutely nothing to do with that, before anyone comments) and figured it would compress enough. Pump back on, and after several starts and running the engine a while I have NO drips anywhere. I am not hearing any clicking, or noises of any kind from the fuel pump, so it seems the thicker gasket is (hopefully) not going to be an issue. Edited July 4, 2010 by JoelOkie spellin Quote
randroid Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Joel, Revel in it, bask in it, post on the .net and shout it from your rooftop; "I have no leaks!", then enjoy it while you can for far too soon it will be but a fond memory. Congratulations, though, for getting a difficult job done. -Randy Quote
JoelOkie Posted July 4, 2010 Author Report Posted July 4, 2010 Randy...ain't it just so? You sound like a man that's been there too. Next time out of the garage the brake pedal could go all the way to the floor.....but for today, it's all good. Joel Quote
55 Fargo Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 Joel, glad to here you found the leak. My fuel pump is doing something similar, I think it is a noisy little bugger too, as I listened to it about 10 minutes ago, it seems to be making some noise..........Fred Quote
