buds truck Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 2 months start to finish (almost finished). Bought this vintage trailer "restored" from a guy. His idea of restored was putting new paneling over rotten wood and hiding it well. I ended stripping out the compete insides and skeleton and starting over. This is what she looks like the evening before her maiden voyage to Icicle River for a week. When I come back, it will be time to wrench on the truck again. Bud:D Quote
smallblockjunkie Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 No dodge parts hanging on the walls? Looks good Bud. Quote
buds truck Posted June 26, 2010 Author Report Posted June 26, 2010 this is what I started with after teardown.... in the one pic the skeleton is new, in others you can see the rot. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 A great looking interior. You did a nice job. Quote
Jim Gaspard Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Bud, sweet camper. Here's her canned ham sister in Dallas. 1952 Traveleze. Same problems but I plan to restore her after I finish my B3B project. Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 But real nice and roomy. Not sure if the Desert one is the same as the Silver Shadow in the car show pictures. The Amish produce these. They are real nice but not cheap. I failed to get a picture but the back flips up to reveal a pretty complete galley. There's also a bunch of them on Ebay http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=teardrop+trailer+&_cqr=true&_dmd=1&_nkwusc=teardrop+trailors&_sop=12&_rdc=1 American Teardrop: http://americanteardrop.com/?gclid=CJn7worVwKICFQtKgwodLV7j5Q Looks like fun! Maybe next 4th of July... Hank Quote
buds truck Posted July 5, 2010 Author Report Posted July 5, 2010 ya know the ol' roofing inspector in me is wondering what caused all that rot in the first place...leaking windows/frames? Trim not sealed off? Floated down the Snake River? the damage was caused by bad seals around the seams and poor seals around the windows, all have been addressed and resealed. Quote
