tom'sB2B Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Hi everyone I'm looking for a transmission cover plate for a 1950 3speed on the column. The rest of my floor looks pretty good, but the trans plate looks like swiss cheese. I got rid of the family of rats living in the cab, now I need to fill the holes. thanks tom Quote
HanksB3B Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 what is it about that plate that makes it so prone to deep-pitted rust. Was it that that the floor of our truck were always wet because of the rubber mat over the jute padding? My gas pedal "pawns" are fragile but holding. Both that pan in new shape and a NOS gas pedal are definately on my wish list. Hope you find one, Hank Quote
tom'sB2B Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 mine is pitted bad and the gas pedal hinge is from a cabinet door but it works for now. I didn't know they were so rare. I'm thinking about having a pan fabricated. I guess my next question would be if hinges are available and where is it supposed to be mounted. The one I have now is rivited to the trans plate by a previous owner Quote
HanksB3B Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 the gas pedal replacements (like from Roberts) have a hinge. I would have a top and bottom plate welded to my transmission cover plate to beef-up the mounting point of the pedal and then probably use something like 5/32" fine thread bolt and a nylon locknut. Not a big fan of welding parts known to wear because at some point they will need to be replaced. Hank Quote
