Anyone need any 51 1 ton parts DG2-26

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I picked up another 1 ton from the same owner as my truck that's currently being restored, but many of the parts I need are different, so most of this truck will just get parted out and sad to say the rest will likely be crunched at the wrecker.

it's a 51 1 ton model # DG2-26, with the 87 hp engine and 8000lb springs. What I need is the seat, gas tank, few door parts and I might steal the transmission (3 spd) just to have a spare, but basically everything else can go.

Let me know...I can give you a price but be warned shipping is from Canada at your cost so it might be a bit higher....

Thanks, and hope I can help someone out needing parts.

Usually I like living up here. I would take the whole truck off your hands, but by the time I got it up here, I couldn`t afford to pay for it! Please don`t crush that thing, it is in better shape than mine from the looks of it, hopefully someone can take it off your hands.

On a more realistic note, I would be interested in the ignition system, voltage regulator, and maybe the carburetor, or even the carb with both manifolds. I wouldn`t mind the whole engine, depending on where in canada you are, truck shipping might be reasonable.

There are a few other pieces I could really use, if you are not going to scrap it right away I might be able to afford more later this summer.

You have some time, I'm not heading it to death's door anytime real soon. I will be pulling off odds and ends throughout the summer for my own project so just get an idea of what you would like and pm me your list and I will try and figure out some shipping to your location.

Thanks

You're only a dreams distance away. I would love to drive the AlCan Hwy all the way to Fairbanks and tow the truck behind. But it won't happen this year, or probably the next decade. I have an appointment with Bonneville speed week this year. My hope is still to drive to Alaska sometime in my life.

I would go get the truck just for the drive myself if I could afford it, I have driven the ALCAN quite a few times, but have never really had the chance to slow down and enjoy it, was always on a schedule. And after trailering my power wagon from Washington state I know how much it costs to drag a truck up here. Maybe if my tow rig wasn`t such a gas hog.....

I do have the dream of driving my power wagon to the states once I get it fixed up and reliable (don`t think "restored" is the right word for that truck:rolleyes: ) to visit all the people who saw it being trailered north. 6000 miles at 45? If that ain`t slowed down, I don`t know what is:D

I'll take the radio and the gauges if they work.. Also do you have any p brake parts? how is the wiper switch? Im also interested in the windshield if your willing to take it out Im located in maryland if you have any idea about shipping.

radio is toast, and I won't know how the gauges are until I can test them and my own for what I need. Hard to see but the windshield has some 22 holes in it, but the side glass is good. As for brake parts mine is 1 ton, if they'll work I can sell you what you need as I'm running completely different set-up in mine. PM me a zip and exactly what you would want and I can go from there.

can't say as I have looked that close yet, but I can do at some point. They seemed to be in ok shape, just the tires destroyed. Rims will be going cheap, but the big issue is shipping...so heavy they would be a fortune.

I don't think those rear wheels are the dual offset. I think they're the single offsets that match those on the front. Mike

I could use the part of the grill that the park lights fit into. Both left and right. Do you still have them.? thanks dswizz46@yahoo.com[/quote

lol...that's the whole grill, or do you mean the back plates...if they come off?

I can do the fender bracket if it's in good shape, as for the gauges I would only sell them complete but only after I know what I need for mine.

I checked those rear wheels, they are just the same as the front, so no special offset.

PM me addy's so I can get accurate shipping quotes.

It is called "Retainer-21-09-29" in on page 427 of the Parts book. The reference number 21-09-29 links to part no 579 304. I have a "better than nothing" one that due to damage inflicted by an incorrect pressure plate arm, I replaced with a spare one that I had.

If you compare the blue one with the red one you will notice a certain "honing" that occured at the end of the shaft, due to the wrong pressure plate that was installed by yours truly.

I do not pretend to know just how far the T.O. bearing travels on this shaft and would not be responsible for any subsequent damage due to a decision of just lathing off-the damaged portion making it a shorter part. It just might work. Alternately I guess someone that is a highly qualified pipe fitter could machine and weld a pipe to the housing for another method. You are welcome to it if you can't find a more respectable substitute.

Hank

Hank thanks very much - I'd like to have it. I bought some stick welding rods that say they'll work on cast iron, I'm going to try it tomorrow, but I'd like to have the one you've got because it's not broken and patched together and that's always better. How can I send you some money for it and the address, etc.?

Thanks again,

Db

  • 3 weeks later...

Pretty sure I'm just going to start ebaying the items now...lots of interest and then it just dies after I send a price or shipping quote....least on ebay it's done and sold once I have a bid.

Hope to get some things up this week, like the "Job Rated" grill piece and a few other trim and fixture pieces.
