Hood tabs

I'm working on the hood sections this weekend and I noticed that there's a tab at the front which seems odd. It would seem that there should be a matching one on the opposite side. However there's no evidence that there was one there. This part was disassembled already when I got the truck. Does anyone have a picture of this area to verify if it's OK, or if I need to fab another tab on the other side? Where does this attach?

not sure what year you have but I noticed two difference wth my 48. I have two tabs, but only two holes instead of the 2x2 (each side) as yours does on the center panel

My hood center piece has two tabs as you suspected. They are riveted to the center hood section just like your one remaining tab. This should be your biggest body problem! Good luck.

You should have two tabs. They attach to the radiator shrouding. In the photo you can see four holes with speed nuts. The two middle ones are for attaching the center hood section. The two outside holes take the upper-most stainless grill bar. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the photo Jim. That's what I suspected, but as I said, that was all disassembled when I got the truck.

The remaining tab is spot welded on and there's no remaining evidence of the missing one. Maybe the spot weld didn't hold and it's been missing for a long time. Guess I'll be fabricating one.

mine are not riveted, they appear to be spot welded or attached by some other fashion..
